No one's ever asked me that. But I wish they would.

Right now, I sit at home, scroll too much, and wish things were different. I want more, but I don't always act on it. My focus slips. I start things — music, ideas, plans — but I don't always follow through.

This is me trying to change that.

I have a degree in recording arts. I speak Spanish. I've worked with people, with kids. But I haven't tapped into real, focused work. It's all felt surface level. What I actually want is purpose — something that makes my days feel necessary.

Life isn't going to hand me the perfect situation that combines everything I love — music, nature, teaching, community. I have to build that myself. And maybe what's meant for me will come — but only if I'm moving enough to catch it.

That means doing the right things: exercising, learning, talking to people, getting uncomfortable. Actually doing.

Because right now, I see the problem clearly: I consume, I wish, and I hesitate. And that creates a loop of negativity. I don't want that.

Everything can be turned into something positive — but only if you choose to see it that way. Everything is a chance to learn. You can always turn things around. But it starts with action.

So today:
I'll write.
I'll scroll less.
I'll make something.

If I can do that consistently, then every day becomes something to build on.

That's the point: your current situation doesn't define you. The ability to try does.

Your mind can expand as far as you let it. But if you don't believe that — or don't act on it — you'll stay exactly where you are.

Nothing about this idea is new. People have been saying it forever. The difference now is simple: the ones who try, who experiment, who improve, who stay open — they're the ones who move forward.

So the real question is

Will you start?

There's something I keep coming back to — the idea that your mental state is directly connected to how much you're moving, creating, and pushing yourself forward. Not in a hustle-culture way. In a real, human way. The days I feel best are the ones where I went outside, did something physical, worked on something that matters. The days I feel worst are the ones where I didn't.

Switch things up. Go outside. Notice what's beautiful about the world. These aren't clichés — they're actual tools. Self-esteem isn't built by thinking about yourself differently. It's built by doing things and seeing yourself do them.

Basketball taught me that. You don't get better at the game by wanting to be better at the game. You get better by going to the gym, again and again, when nobody's watching and nobody's clapping. That consistency — that quiet, unglamorous consistency — is the thing that actually builds you.

On the Court — Playoffs 2026

Oklahoma City is going to win this thing. I don't want them to. But depth wins championships, and right now OKC has the most complete roster in the league — Jared McCain bringing youth and energy, Caruso bringing the veteran grit, and Shai at the top holding it all together. He won the MVP. But let's be honest about how he gets there. Shai has turned flopping into an art form. He studies the defender's momentum, gets them leaning backward, then stops dead and lets them run into him. He flails on contact in a way that is practiced and calculated. The refs have to call it — that's the reality of the modern game. And it's spread. His teammates do it. The whole league has adapted. Now I see kids at every level doing the same thing — complaining, drawing contact, talking instead of playing.

I'm not sure it's the most positive development in basketball. But I also can't ignore what the game has become overall. More points per game than ever. Finesse at a level players from thirty years ago wouldn't have imagined possible. You don't just need force anymore — you need mental conditioning, footwork, and the discipline to stay in front of these athletes play after play. In that way the game has genuinely progressed. Steph made kids shoot threes from half court in warmups. Every era reshapes what the next generation thinks is possible.

Victor Wembanyama is the best player on earth. I believe that. The MVP went to Shai but Wemby is on a different level — a player that shouldn't exist, doing things the game has never seen at that size. The Spurs are young, they are building, and this will not be the last time we see them in a conference finals. Wemby has something to prove and that motivation alone makes him one of the most exciting players to watch in a long time.

I'm a Laker fan. I have no business rooting for San Antonio. But here we are.

The thread between all of this — the mental health piece, the basketball piece, building this site — is the same thing. Keep fighting. Keep showing up. Don't wait until you feel ready because that feeling doesn't come first. The readiness comes from doing it anyway.

I love my city. San Juan Capistrano is small, but the food coming out of this town is serious — BBQ, pizza, Japanese, we've got it all. But today I want to talk about Mexican food.

My family and I decided to rate the tacos from every Mexican restaurant in San Juan. We walked from place to place, ordered one taco at each, and worked our way through town. We were not disappointed. Honestly, you kind of can't go wrong at any of them. But a few stood out enough that these are the ones I'd take you to if you came to visit.

El Coyotito — 9/10

One of my personal favorites. They bring homemade, traditional flavors right to the front — handmade tortillas, fresh ingredients, meat that turns a simple taco into something you remember. It's not complicated. It's just done right, and the seasoning is perfect. Simple and delicious is harder than it sounds.

El Molino — the burrito spot

Their tacos might not top the list, but this is my favorite place in town to get a burrito, full stop. Morning? Breakfast burrito with chorizo y papas — my favorite thing on Earth to eat, and I've been getting it my whole life. They put beans in it, which I don't think is that common, but now I expect beans in any breakfast burrito I eat. They scramble the chorizo with the eggs, potatoes on top, cilantro and onion, sour cream, cheese, and that green salsa — I could drink that green salsa. It all flows together perfectly. Lunch or dinner, I'm getting a classic al pastor burrito with an agua fresca. Banana, watermelon, or melon. Satisfying every single time.

El Zarandeado Mexican Seafood — 10/10

Best taco in San Juan. The fish taco here is unreal — fresh, perfect, no notes. The shrimp is great, the margaritas are great. And it's underrated. They don't have the biggest sign out front, so people walk right past it. The people there are kind, the cooks take real pride in their work, and it shows in the food. Go.

Honorable mentions: Las Costas, Ricardo's Place, Cancun, El Campeón. All worth your time.

But those first three? Those are the ones I'm taking you to.

San Juan is growing every year, and I really believe we're becoming the culinary capital of Orange County. Come eat.

Everyone needs to see Yosemite at least once. I mean that.

It's a valley closed in by these colossal walls of rock on either side — Half Dome, El Capitan, the faces everybody knows. But it's not just the rock. It's the whole thing together: the green trees, the plants, the nature down in the valley with these immense stone faces standing behind it all. It makes you feel small. And I mean that as the best thing that can happen to you.

You stand down there and it hits you — wow, I'm really not as big as I think I am. The world doesn't revolve around me. And somehow that's a relief. The weight comes off your shoulders and all you have to do is take it in, observe, and marvel at the size of it. Everybody should get to feel that at least once in their life.

Then there's the climbers. It's insane that people go up those faces — even with ropes it's insane. The concentration, the mental fortitude, staying locked in, not looking down, not making one mistake for hours. And the sheer grip strength — hanging off that rock with your fingertips, it's an incredible demonstration of what the body can do. I applaud people like Alex Honnold and the ones who free solo it. I genuinely don't understand it — but it's what they love, and there's something beautiful in that. Would've loved to bring binoculars and try to spot climbers on the walls — apparently some of them camp out on the face, sleeping strapped to the rock. Nuts.

I went for two nights with some great friends — drove Arman and Derek up, and we celebrated Dillon and Arman's birthdays out there. We stayed in a tent cabin in Curry Village. Community showers, comfortable, clean — I'll be honest, it was more glamping than camping. No complaints. We ate pizza in the village both nights, which was fun the first time and, well, a little much by the second.

We put in some real miles. The day we swam at Cathedral Beach was its own kind of perfect — cold, refreshing water, exactly what you want after being out in the sun. Then came Cathedral Lakes Trail, about eight and a half miles winding through the trees until it opened up onto this lake that felt like an oasis — the water, the mountains, the trees, all of it, and nobody else there but us. That's the thing about me and vacations: I'd rather get off the grid than into a city. Just walk, observe, talk, think. It calms me in a way nothing else does.

Last day we headed out toward Hetch Hetchy, hiked around the reservoir to a waterfall. Beautiful in its own way — that big body of water against the rock — though it's got a different feeling back there. Hotter, drier, like the moisture got pulled out of the air. I've got my questions about whether that dam's the best thing for the environment, but I'll leave that alone for now. We met up with my buddy John and his girlfriend out there and had a great time in it regardless.

We closed the trip with two days in San Francisco during Pride, exploring the city and catching up with friends who live up there. Good way to come down off the mountain.

We met a guy named Dale in Yosemite who's taking his mom to every national park in the country — and beyond. Dude loves it. And I got it. That's what I took home from this trip: getting outside and connecting with nature genuinely grounds me. It makes me feel whole. And I need to keep making the effort to do it — especially with friends, because that's what makes it better.

Fourteen hours of driving round trip. Worth every mile, and I'll do it again. Just picked up some Merrells, so I'm ready.

Season's over but the game doesn't stop. The draft, the trades, the moves — this is where next year gets built, and there's a lot to talk about.

Let's talk Lakers. LeBron's gone. He told the team he won't be back, and man — I'll always glaze King Bron. Loved every minute of that era. Part of me wishes there was a world where he stayed on a vet minimum and rode into the Luka era as the final piece. Storybook stuff. But his number was never going to fit what we're building, and as much as it hurts, we needed to start new. Laker fans don't do "content." It's a championship or it's nothing.

Here's why I'm actually excited though: Luka with a premier big man is already a recipe for success. That's his whole game. He tortures teams in the pick-and-roll — sucks in the defense, picks you apart, and creates open looks for everybody on the floor. Give him a real rim-runner and it's over. That's exactly what Walker Kessler is: a lob threat, a rim protector, a guy who rolls hard and finishes everything. If those two gel and build that chemistry, that connection could be genuinely lethal. Add Mamu, Sexton, and Grimes and there's a real roster here.

Re-signing Reaves to the max ($185M) wasn't my dream — I like Austin, but he's got to prove it in the playoffs, and lately he hasn't. Still, get me one more swing, a Kuminga or a Peyton Watson, and we're dangerous. And don't tell me LeBron isn't secretly plotting a vet-minimum ring chase out West. I'd welcome him home in a heartbeat.

The one that stings: losing Rui. That man looked like the best shooter on Earth at stretches in the playoffs, and he's just a good dude. Wanted to rock his jersey in Japan this September with the boys. Might anyway.

But let's be real about the mountain. The Thunder and the Spurs are leading this race, and probably for years. Those rosters are dynamic, deep, and tough defensively — exactly the thing the Lakers have lacked lately. Everybody in the West is trying to figure out how to get past Wemby and OKC, and it's not close right now. That's the standard. That's what we're chasing.

Rest of the league's a movie too — Giannis to Miami, Ja to Portland, LaMelo to Minnesota, Jaylen Brown to Philly. Everybody's loading up. Same energy I'm carrying into the studio — new song in the works, World Cup on home soil, everything in motion. And that's how I like it.

August 2022. Palomar Mountain. The Cleveland National Forest. A camping trip with eight of my closest friends, a hiking trail up toward the observatory, and a mushroom tea that hit a little harder than expected.

Somewhere on that trail, overwhelmed and rambling, I started talking about a website. A place where all of us could bring what we're good at and put it in one room. Sales and fashion and art and music and writing and code and conversation — all of it, together, under one roof. A lounge.

I meant every word of it.

The People On That Trail

John — spots things before anyone else does. Trends, deals, value that other people walk past. His taste is his own and he backs it.

Austin — the reason this site exists in the form it does. He built his first. Poems, stories, ideas out in the open for people to read and respond to while he earns his masters in creative writing and chases a life in teaching. He makes things happen because he decides to.

Boone — analytical and creative at the same time, which is rare. Codes his way through problems. Always thinking about the experience, his own and everyone else's.

Derek — knows things and knows people. The kind of wit and work ethic that makes success feel inevitable for him. Easy to be around, hard to forget.

Ethan — unpredictable in the best way. Can talk to anyone. Shows up every day and does the work. That kind of energy is contagious and harder to find than people think.

Jacob — his eye for aesthetics is underrated. Adapts to any room, any situation. Has real opinions about visuals and isn't afraid to share them. Every brand needs someone like that.

Peyton — quiet about it but capable of anything he decides to pursue. Tough and creative and the kind of person who lends a hand without needing to make it a thing.

Arman — entrepreneurial to his core. Talks to anyone, reads the room, stays ahead of what's coming. Always moving, always growing, always pulling people along with him. He was part of why I started when I did.

I'm building this alone right now and that's fine. That's how most things start. But the original idea was always collective — a place where people with different abilities could combine them into something real.

That idea didn't go away when we came down from the mountain. It just needed time. New songs will go here. New experiences. New people. It will grow with me.

This is where it started. A trail, eight friends, and one rambling idea that turned out to be worth something.
